When I first found out we were pregnant, as a first time Dad, I was nervous. I was a bit scared thinking about the process of labor. My wife and I met Virginia and knowledge quickly became our power. Virginia is kind, caring, and great at her job. Actually, “job” just isn’t the word to use. She treats you like a close member of the family, with love and concern, but has the knowledge that provides the experience you dreamed of. She is patient and understanding but will stand up for you in those moments you don’t have the strength to fight for yourself. ~ J
I didn’t think we needed a doula but during the birth of our daughter I was so glad and relieved that Virginia was present. She helped me, helped my wife in so many ways! Virginia really respects the moment between a husband and wife and she has the wonderful ability to mother the mother in just the right way and at the moment she needs it. Down to earth. Has been there a few times herself. Listens to your every word. Knows how to help you get comfortable. Knows when to step back. Nurses and doctors love her. If I had another baby she would be the first person I’d call. ~ J

She assisted my husband and I prepare for and, then, welcome our second child. She was a tremendous resource during the end of my pregnancy. And, we felt so lucky to have her wise and calming presence during labor. I had the good fortune to have the natural childbirth I so wanted with my son, and I do not think I could have done it without her! After his birth, Virginia continued to be a huge help sorting out the inevitable kinks in the first weeks of breastfeeding. I cannot say enough good things about Virginia! After the birth, I struggled to breastfeed successfully. My daughter was born on a Friday and had to be kept an extra day due to low weight and we had no lactation consultant at hand. She came at midnight and encouraged me while teaching me calmly what to do. She stood by my side while I had to pump because of pain and was my support when no one could be at the hospital with me. ~ M
Virginia has been such a wonderful support to me on my breastfeeding journey. In the beginning, she helped me get my sleepy son latched and gave me tips on how to wake him up for feedings. Even now, at 7 months PP, she makes herself available to me to address concerns I have about my and my son’s breastfeeding relationship. I am thankful for the knowledge I have gained from Virginia as it has enabled me to avoid some really bad breastfeeding advice! ~ A

When my water broke at home, I felt calm and prepared because of the Lamaze healthy birth practices.
